CDing saga...

CDing is just not going so well for us these days. First I had some problems with my BumGenius repelling. It took me forever to finally get that straightened out (the answer for me was plain old Tide, got all the build up out!), and now those darned BG are too small for my baby! I just sold all her Fuzzi Bunz because those were too small. I have one Pocket Change diaper which is a tiny bit too small. I have one pocket dipe which is meant to fit up to 35 lbs which just fits her (20lbs now). I got those beautiful rainbow serged prefolds and those are too narrow for her! (Well I can JUST get them on with a snappi if I do a bikini twist. But I mean barely!)

I just realized today while I was agonizing over waist and thigh measurements, that I am shopping for a plus-sized baby. And it feels a lot like shopping for her plus-sized mama. Frustrating and annoying!

Thigh measurements from dipe manufacturers are so useless! If they say a dipe goes from 10-13 inches on the thighs, that should work for my babies 12" thighs right? NO. Because at 12" the elastic is all stretched out. What is stretching it out? My baby's delicate and delectably chubby thighs. Which means big red marks, which makes for an unhappy baby and an unhappy baby mama!

I'm going to keep trying to work the just-barely-fitting prefolds and wool as much as I can, but I miss our BG for how they fit under clothes. *sigh* So I wonder if this is a phase... if she has sort of maxed out her chubbiness now and will start to slim out a bit as she starts crawling? Or if the BG are just a lost cause...

Here's a pic in bikini twist prefold with wool shorties...

Any luck with a regular fold for the prefolds? You can also try pins. Just make sure you stick your finger underneath the diaper so you don't stick the baby.

Maybe a BG onesize pocket dipe would work best for Bella?

We are using 1/2 sposies, 1/2 cloth now.

I keep meaning to buy some pins, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm using a snappi and I can just fit her in a rainbow edged prefold. I'm hoping as she starts crawling she will lean out a little bit so they will still fit! I do a bikini twist under the wool. That's all the cloth we're using right now because she has way outgrown the BG we have, but her thighs are so big she won't fit the next size up! So we're doing wool and pf's whenever I remember to take her out of her outfit and put her in it... and 'sposies the rest of the time.

If they can make sposies which fit chunky thighs, why not CD's???

I have a few onesize dipes btw and they I swear... barely fit her. 35 lbs in whose universe!?!?? Maybe if the baby is 4 feet tall! LOL!

They are not the best (Dritz rock), but Gerber sells pins, and I have seen them in every baby section, including the grocery store.

It would be difficult to save $$ by using cloth if she isn't fitting into the one-size diapers. The rainbow prefolds are much wider than premium prefolds. I would also be using disposables in your circumstance...but they are so darn expensive (.25 a sposie?!).

Rainbow and premiums are the same width... rainbows are just shorter...

The premiums I bought from Jillian's drawers are 1.25 inches smaller in the width. GMD probably has better quality prefolds, my rainbows are soft!

I use an angelfold, with a snappi.

The website says that the bikini twist is good for chunky thighs, so you are probably doing everything right...but to have to pay for toddler prefolds already is crazy/amazing!
